Panthers Release DeCoud; Re-Sign Scott To One-Year Deal

The Carolina Panthers have released safety Thomas DeCoud and re-signed offensive lineman Chris Scott to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

DeCoud played in 15 games with 11 starts in 2014, his only season with Carolina. He made 46 tackles, two passes defensed and had one interception returned for 35 yards. DeCoud joined the Panthers in the offseason after six seasons with Atlanta.

Scott has played in 20 games with eight starts in the past two seasons with Carolina. He also played two games for Pittsburgh in 2011. Before re-signing, Scott would have otherwise become a restricted free agent when the new league year opens on March 10.
