A nationally-televised game against the Kansas City Chiefs highlights the Carolina Panthers 2014 preseason schedule announced Wednesday by the National Football League.
The Panthers play the Chiefs on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. on FOX. The game is the second of two home games to open preseason play. The Panthers host Buffalo in Week One and travel to New England in Week Three and Pittsburgh in Week Four.
The Panthers and Steelers will be meeting in the preseason finale for the 12th consecutive season.
The Panthers are 36-41 in preseason games. Carolina finished at least .500 in the preseason in each of its five playoff seasons.
