Panthers Activate CB Johnson; Place Williams on IR

The Carolina Panthers have activated cornerback Leonard Johnson from the reserve/non-football injury list, the club announced Friday. Carolina also placed cornerback Teddy Williams on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Johnson, 5-10 and 200 pounds, signed with the club in July, but has yet to make an appearance. Prior to signing with Carolina, Johnson spent time with New England, starting three of the team’s final four regular season games in 2015. Johnson began the 2015 season on injured reserve with Tampa Bay, where he originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State in 2012. During his time with the Buccaneers, Johnson played in 48 games with 17 starts, tallying 139 tackles, five interceptions and 20 passes defensed.

Williams, 6-1 and 210 pounds, has been with Carolina since the start of the 2015 season. He has played in three games this season, totaling seven tackles, one pass defense and one interception.
