Peacock wins with 66% of the vote in landslide victory
Charlotte, NC – Edwin Peacock has won the Republican Primary Election for Charlotte Mayor, facing off with the eventual Democrat nominee on November 3.
“This election is about Charlotte,” said Peacock. “This is about bringing everyone together to ensure all four corners of Charlotte have the opportunity to prosper.”
“Our team is excited and energized after tonight’s win, and I sincerely thank ALL of the voters who made it out to the polls today,” Peacock Said. “However, it’s now time to redouble our efforts for the General Election.”
Peacock won by a margin of 66% to 34% over Scott Stone. In 2013, only 18% of Charlotte voters participated in the mayoral election. Edwin Peacock aims to increase participation as Charlotte finds itself at a critical crossroads.
“I’m anxious and ready to continue the important dialogue in the City of Charlotte about our future,” said Peacock. “Charlotte will have a choice of two candidates in November. One is a leader with a vision for Charlotte’s future that will curb silly spending, reduce the tax burden on working families, and pull our city out of the bottom of the barrel for economic mobility. The other is someone who will continue the same policies that are causing many to flee Charlotte to find lower taxes, better schools, and safer neighborhoods.”
Peacock served on City Council At-Large from 2007-2011. He is a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual. Edwin and his wife, Amy, have two children.
