Locally owned Headlines Barbershop of 5309 E. Independence Blvd is hosting a food drive starting July 15th through August 15th. The food drive will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank on Spratt Street. Second Harvest is a Charlotte based organization that provides food to approximately 600 agencies in the greater Charlotte area. The demand for food constantly outweighs the supply of the food bank.
Headlines Barbershop was established in 2008 by Derrick Bennett, a local barber, who has the goal of giving back to the Charlotte community. “Giving back to the community is extremely important to me. There is so much negativity in the world, it is urgent that we offset that with positivity. The positivity has a ripple effect on everyone that it touches” says Bennett.
This is the first in a series of other activities that the barbershop is planning designed to “give back” to Charlotte.
