Peacock Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Charlotte

Peacock pledges to use private sector experience to restore trust and invest in Charlotte’s future
CHARLOTTE, NC – Charlotte businessman and former At-Large Republican City Councilman Edwin Peacock today announced his candidacy for Mayor of Charlotte.

“My family and I are excited to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Charlotte,” Peacock said. “After having had four mayors in two years and a second consecutive tax hike looming in the middle of a budget crisis, we must fill the leadership void in Charlotte and chart a new course. As your Mayor, I pledge to restore trust in city government and invest in our shared priorities.”

Peacock ran for mayor in 2013 and narrowly lost in the General Election to Patrick Cannon, who was convicted and sent to prison for accepting bribes after being sworn into office. Peacock promises to deliver a much-needed dose of real-world, private sector experience to city government in Charlotte.

“Charlotte is among the fastest growing cities in America, but we find ourselves at an intersection: are we going to continue to waste tax dollars on failed projects or will we invest in our shared priorities that will ensure a stronger future for our city?” Peacock said. “I know our Charlotte’s best days are still ahead of us. With a clear direction and common sense leadership, we can clean up city government and invest in a brighter future.”

Peacock released a web video in conjunction with his announcement, which can be seen here: Peacock for Mayor Web Video. He can also be found here (Facebook), here (Twitter) and here (Website).

Peacock is a Financial Representative with Northwestern Mutual. He has built a career in financial services that uniquely prepares him for tackling Charlotte’s budget crisis and economic challenges ahead. Edwin and his wife Amy are active leaders in the community and are the proud parents of two school age children.

Edwin Peacock will hold a formal campaign kickoff in the coming weeks.
