2014 Cookout for a Cause

Charlotte based Headlines Barber Shop will hold its 2nd Annual Cookout for a Cause on September 28 from 1-5pm at Reedy Creek Park from 1-5pm.  All proceeds from the cookout benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.  Last year’s event was a great success.  The barber shop collected enough money to provide over 5,000 meals to Charlotte families in need.

The cookout is free for all attendees.  Money will be raised three ways: through the sale of raffle tickets, through a silent auction and through donations.  This year, Headlines has a goal of collecting enough money to provide nearly 12,000 meals to Charlotte families in need.

Headlines Barber Shop just wrapped up a month-long food drive, coined the “#1000PoundFoodDrive”.  The results of the drive exceeded the established goal by almost 50% with a total of almost 1,500 pounds of food.   Owner, Derrick Bennett, states that “It’s really important to give back.  It keeps your grounded.  I live in Charlotte and the community has been so supportive to me and my business.  I want to do something to make a difference in my own backyard.”
