Low Cost Produce Option for Food Desert Residents, Cooking Demos at Grand Re-Opening
April 9, 2014 (Charlotte, N.C.) – On April 12, Sow Much Good re-opens its market to the community for the spring, summer and fall seasons. Serving over 73,000 people living in urban food deserts, the farm grows and sells -at a low cost – chemical free produce, eggs and honey.
Coming off the heels of her Top 10 CNN Hero selection, Robin Emmons is excited to be back at the market serving her community. “While I am extremely grateful for all of the wonderful and amazing honors that came last year, the work that connects me with the people we serve is what fuels and inspires me most. I am so excited to re-open the market this season and to re-connect with the community that I love. The market and the community residents who come, are sweet reminders that it is my passion that fuels my purpose – and the market allows a meaningful space for the expression of both,” said Robin Emmons executive director of Sow Much Good.
Cooking demonstrations will be held at 10:00 a.m., 12 noon and 2:00 p.m. Customers will be able to learn healthy recipes to use at home.
The market will be open Wednesdays 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m for the remainder of the season. If people are unable to get to the market due to lack of transportation or work, Sow Much Good will begin to offer a Farm Fresh To Go option in May. This is Sow Much Good’s version of an affordable CSA which will give residents of Ashley Park, Brookshire Blvd, Enderly Park, Renaissance West, Smithfield, West Blvd. and West Davidson access to chemical free produce and other delights. Weekly baskets will be delivered to homes or can be picked up at the Urban Farm.
