Panthers Sign 2016 Draft Picks Bradberry & Sandland

The Carolina Panthers have signed two 2016 draft choices – second-round choice (62nd overall) cornerback James Bradberry and seventh-round draft choice (252nd overall) tight end Beau Sandland, the team announced Monday.

Bradberry, 6-1 and 210 pounds, was a three-time All-Southern Conference choice at Samford after beginning his college career at Arkansas State. Bradberry tallied 128 tackles, eight interceptions and 27 passes defensed at Samford.

As a senior in 2015, Bradberry was a first-team All-Southern Conference selection after starting 11 games and tying for second on the team with two interceptions and ranking first with 11 passes defensed. He was a key member of a secondary that led the conference in pass defense efficiency.

Sandland, 6-4 and 255 pounds, spent his final two collegiate seasons at Montana State after transferring from Miami (Fla.) and previously playing two seasons at Pierce College in Los Angeles.

Last season, as a senior, Sandland was named a Football Championship Subdivision second-team All-American and first-team All-Big Sky Conference choice. He started 11 games and led the Bobcats with 632 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns on 37 receptions. Sandland ranked second on the team with an average of 17.1 yards per catch and produced two 100-yard receiving efforts.
