Carolina Panthers Re-Sign QB Joe Webb; Sign Gino Gradkowski

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed quarterback Joe Webb to a two-year contract and signed unrestricted free agent center Gino Gradkowski to a three-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

The Panthers third quarterback, Webb also played a prominent role on special teams in 2015. He saw action in all 16 regular season games, ranking second on team with 12 special teams tackles and recovering one fumble. He averaged 22.3 yards on eight kickoff returns for 178 yards. Webb came to Carolina in 2014, serving as the third quarterback and seeing action on special teams and at wide receiver.

Before joining the Panthers, Webb spent four seasons (2010-13) with the Minnesota Vikings, playing at  quarterback and wide receiver after being selected by the Vikings in the sixth round (199th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of UAB. He has played in 56 career regular season games with four starts (two at quarterback and two at wide receiver). He has played in six career postseason games, including a start at quarterback for Minnesota in 2012.

Gradkowski, 6-3 and 300 pounds, joins Carolina after one season in Atlanta. In 2015, he played in three games with one start for the Falcons after being acquired off of waivers from Denver in September.

A fourth-round draft choice (98th overall) out of Delaware by the Baltimore Ravens in 2012, Gradkowski spent three seasons (2012-14) with Baltimore before being traded to Denver. He has played in 43 career regular season games with 17 starts, including 16 for the Ravens in 2013.
