Batum Wins Award For First Time In His Career After Leading Hornets To 3-1 Record;

6-8 Guard Led The Eastern Conference In Three-Point Field Goals For The Week

November 16, 2015 – The NBA announced today that Charlotte Hornets guard Nicolas Batum has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, Nov. 15.  It is the first career Player of the Week award for Batum, who led the Hornets to a 3-1 record on the week.

During the week, Batum led the Eastern Conference in three-point field goals made (15), ranked fifth in scoring (25.5 ppg) and third in field goals made per game (9.25). In addition to averaging 25.5 points, he posted averages of 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  Batum set new season highs for points in three consecutive games to end the week, culminating in a 33-point performance versus his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers, in a 106-94 win on Nov. 15.  It marked his first 30-plus point performance since Nov. 16, 2012.

Over the four games played in the week, Batum was the only player in the NBA to record over 100 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists while sinking more than 10 three-point field goals.  The French native led the NBA in field goal percentage (.569) and three-point percentage (.577) among players who took at least 60 field goal attempts and 25 three-point attempts.

For the season, Batum is averaging 17.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 34.2 minutes, leading the Hornets in scoring, minutes played and three-point field goals made.
