Panthers Sign S Griffin and DT Love

The Carolina Panthers have signed safety Michael Griffin and defensive tackle Kyle Love to one-year contracts, the team announced Tuesday. The Panthers also waived safety Marcus Ball and placed defensive end Ryan Delaire on injured reserve (knee).

Griffin, 6-0 and 215 pounds, has been named to the Pro Bowl twice (2008 and 2010). A first-round draft choice of the Tennessee Titans in 2007 from Texas, Griffin spent all nine seasons of his career with Tennessee before signing with Minnesota in the offseason. He was released by the Vikings on September 7.

Griffin has played in 141 career regular season games with 133 starts, registering 607 tackles, seven sacks, 25 interceptions, 65 passes defensed, 11 forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

Love, 6-1 and 315, returns to the Panthers after being waived in the final roster cutdown prior to the start of the regular season. He originally joined the Panthers in 2014. Last season, Love played in 15 regular season games with two starts and registered 19 tackles, including three sacks. He also saw action in all three postseason games, notching one sack.
