Hornets Acquire Center Miles Plumlee from Bucks

Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has acquired center Miles Plumlee and cash considerations from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for forward/center Spencer Hawes and center Roy Hibbert.

“We are excited to add Miles to our roster,” said Cho.  “He is an athletic big man who brings additional physicality and rebounding to our frontcourt rotation.  He’s a proven player with a strong work ethic and we think he’ll fit in well with our core group.”

The 26th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Plumlee is in his fifth NBA season and has played in 260 career games (133 starts) for the Pacers, Suns and Bucks. The 28-year-old Duke product has career averages of 5.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per contest, while shooting .529 from the field (597-1129).

Plumlee played in 32 games (12 starts) for Milwaukee this season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes.

Hawes, who initially joined the Hornets via trade from the Los Angeles Clippers on June 15, 2015, played in 92 total games (seven starts) for Charlotte with averages of 6.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 18.1 minutes.  The 10th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Hawes in his 10th NBA season.

A two-time NBA All-Star (2012 and 2014), Hibbert is in his ninth NBA season and averaged 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 block in 42 games (13 starts) for the Hornets after signing as a free agent on July 7, 2016.
