Carolina Panthers Waive Boston & 4 Others

The Carolina Panthers waived safety Tre Boston, fullback Devon Johnson, tackles Jordan Rigsbee and Jake Rodgers and cornerback Lou Young, the team announced Tuesday.

In three NFL seasons, all with Carolina, Boston played in 42 regular season games with 16 starts and totaled 93 tackles, two sacks, nine passes defensed and three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He joined the team as fourth-round draft choice from North Carolina in 2014.

Johnson signed with the Panthers as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Marshall in 2016, but spent the entire season on injured reserve with a back injury.

Rigsbee joined the Panthers in 2016 as an undrafted rookie free agent from California before being placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in the team’s final preseason game.

Rodgers entered the NFL in 2015 and has had stints on the practice squads of the New York Giants and Panthers in his two seasons.

Young entered the NFL in 2014 and spent time on the practice squads of Baltimore, Jacksonville and Carolina before playing in six games for the Panthers in 2016.
