Carolina Panthers Re-Sign Colin Jones

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed safety Colin Jones to a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Jones, a potential unrestricted free agent, played in 14 games with one start for Carolina in 2016. He recorded two tackles on defense and tackles on special teams.

A sixth-round draft choice of San Francisco in 2011, Jones has played in 89 career regular season games with six starts. Jones joined the Panthers in 2012 after a trade with the 49ers and has recorded 43 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception and four passes defensed on defense for Carolina. He has been among the team’s leading special teams tacklers in each of the past five seasons, tallying 42 since joining the Panthers.
